The Complete SupportUKtoday Story

From S'port Me Today to SupportUKtoday:

A Journey of Survival, Betrayal, and Rebirth

Back to Visual Journey

The Beginning:

S'port Me Today (sportmetoday.com)

After years of volunteering as a Regional Coordinator for Welfare and Charities with the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association since 1991, I had a vision: create one unified brand that could support multiple charities through sustainable giving.

The original brand was S'port Me Today (sportmetoday.com) with the tagline "Support Mankind Forever".

The Running Figure Symbol

S'port Me Today Logo

The colourful running figure represented a powerful transition in my journey:

  • The finishing line – The end of my struggles (childhood trauma, bullying, losing my father, PTSD) and the end of my volunteer role as the Regional Coordinator
  • The starting line – The beginning of S'port Me Today as my own charitable brand and mission
  • Rainbow colours – Transformation from darkness to light, from pain to purpose
  • Forward motion – Always moving forward, never stopping, constant momentum toward hope

This was the foundation. This was the dream.

The Betrayal: When Trust Was Broken

As the vision grew, I brought in advisors and partners to help build the brand. I trusted people with my business name, my mission, and my future.

Then came the betrayal.

A former business director and advisor – someone I had trusted – stole the business name and left me buried in debt. The brand I had built, the mission I had created, was taken from me.

I was left with nothing but the vision in my heart and the determination that had kept me standing through every storm since childhood.

The boy who survived a near-death accident at age six, who endured relentless bullying, who lost his father and battled PTSD, was now facing another fight.

But I didn't break. I rebuilt.

The Rebuild: Support US Today (sportustoday.co.uk)

After the betrayal, I rebranded to Support US Today (sportustoday.co.uk).

The Evolution of Support US Today

Support US Today went through several design versions, each serving a specific purpose:

Version 1: Two Teddy Bears Carrying the Weight

Support US Today Version 1

  • The teddy bears carry the weight of the letters (S and Y) – literally showing support, love, and care
  • "US" not "me" – We carry each other's burdens, togetherness in action
  • Hearts representing the love that motivates us to support one another
  • Simple, clear messaging for basic branding

Version 2: Teddy Bear on Earth Holding a Heart

Support US Today Version 2 - Website

  • Global compassion – Taking the mission worldwide
  • Earth imagery showing the scale of impact
  • Professional website version

Version 3: Earth + Heart + Rainbow Background

Support US Today Version 3 - Business Cards & Fliers

  • Eye-catching design for business cards and fliers
  • Rainbow gradient representing hope and transformation
  • Attention-grabbing for print materials

But the journey wasn't over. I was still learning, still protecting, still fighting to keep the mission alive.

The Rebirth: SupportUKtoday (supportuktoday.com)

SupportUKtoday Logo

The current brand, SupportUKtoday, brings together everything I've learned:

The Complete Symbol: Windmill + Heart + Bear

The logo combines all the elements of my journey:

  • 🌈 The Windmill – Transformation from darkness to light, catching adversity and turning it into purpose, constant motion forward
  • 🧸 The Teddy Bear – Comfort and companionship for mental health and homelessness
  • ❤️ The Heart – Love, the foundation of everything we do
  • 🌳 The Tree (in spirit) – You are a living tree, still standing through every storm

The Partner Campaigns

NoMeNoTrees (nomenotree.co.uk) – Mental Health

NoMeNoTrees Logo

Created with Dean Cole, who understood the power of the tree metaphor from my own journey.

The logo shows a tree half bare, half full – representing the journey from darkness to light, from depression to hope, from winter to spring.

This campaign supports mental health charities and raises awareness that recovery is possible. The tree can bloom again.

JustForMeandMyDog (justformeandmydog.com)

JustForMeandMyDog Logo

This campaign was inspired by a former business director's idea from up North, refined and protected under the SupportUKtoday umbrella.

It supports people experiencing homelessness and mental health challenges through the bond with their companion animals.

"Memories last forever, never do they die, True friends stay together and never say goodbye..."

For many people living on the streets, their dog is their only family, their only warmth, their only reason to keep going.

This campaign ensures they're not forgotten.

The Meaning Behind the Colours

Every colour in the SupportUKtoday brand tells part of the story:

  • Black and White – The journey from darkness to light, from despair to hope
  • Brown – The earth, grounding, homelessness, the bare tree in winter
  • Green – Growth, renewal, mental health awareness, the tree blooming again
  • Rainbow colours (windmill) – Hope, diversity, transformation, the full spectrum of human experience
  • Red (heart) – Love, the foundation of all charity work

Why This Matters

This isn't just a brand. This is proof that:

  • Survival is possible after trauma
  • Rebuilding is possible after betrayal
  • Purpose can emerge from pain
  • One person can make a difference
  • Transparency and accountability matter
  • Small actions create big impacts

From a boy born with deformities, nearly killed at age six, bullied relentlessly, who lost his father and battled PTSD, who was betrayed and left in debt...

...to a man who now helps others stand tall.

The Tree Still Stands

No matter how bare the branches.
No matter how harsh the storm.

The tree still stands. So can you.
